Naiyanee
Srikanthimarak, a weaver,
offers a variety of silk items designed by
herself, patterned using the resist tie dye method (mut-mii or ikat)
and traditionally woven on a hand loom.
All silk pieces are handcrafted with both
warp and weft using yarns spun by the local polyvoltine type of
silk worm. Thickly plied, they are coarse in texture, heavy in weight,
but soft to the touch and warm in use. Somber colours feature traditional
patterns.
Items available include furniture throws,
wall hangings, table runners, blankets, bedspreads, shawls, stoles
and other specialties.
